CLASS DEFINITIONS

Arise & Align- It is easy to feel disconnected from yourself as you near the end of a busy workweek.  Combined with the many tasks and things we have to do in a week it is good to know that you can wake up, grab your yoga mat, and come back to alignment; finishing the week strong.
This one hour class is designed to get you ready to conclude the week and ride into the weekend feeling great.  This is a Vinyasa style 60 minute class that will get you moving, relieve the stresses, and shake out any of the blockages you may be having.   We will begin with  morning pranayama and end with a centering meditation.  Prepare for asanas that lift you into your day and leave you feeling great.  This is a all levels class.  Just bring your smile and willingness to move.

Ashtanga-Inspired- Synchronizing breath with movement, this class focuses on a challenging sequence of postures from the Astanga Primary Series. While creating heat and strength in the body, the structured sequence also cultivates the space to develop deep self-awareness and mindfulness.

Baby Peacocks- New moms (or hey, maybe the occasional dad) bring their little baby peacock babies to our casual, fun, class for an hour & 15 minutes of gentle yoga. Poses for you and poses for your baby are included. This is a 6 class-package, non refundable in portions, designed to help you relax, restore, plus regain your inner strength & outer balance.
Class occurs in our cozy, smaller, Sun Studio. Nursing, changing, crying, & laughing are all allowed. Only babies who are not yet crawling, please.

Beginner- This class is perfect for people who have little or no experience with yoga. The instructor will introduce the basics of yoga at a pace that is not overwhelming, and in an environment that is safe and encouraging. There will be strength exercises and poses designed to challenge you, balanced with stretching and relaxation. Just do what your body allows!

Flow Basics-Vinyasa and Flow classes can be challenging to dive into if you’re starting out your yoga journey or coming back to flow. This class is great for those who are newer to yoga or those wanting a basic flow class. You can expect to be introduced to foundational yoga postures, guided on how to breathe and helped to feel more comfortable in your yoga practice. Although this class moves at a slower pace than the other vinyasa classes, expect to be challenged. We all start somewhere!

Fly and Flow- Looking for a Vinyasa-style class but also need to get your blood flowing up, down, and all around? This class is an eclectic blend of various styles of yoga. Emphasis will be placed on moving to the rhythm of your breath, postural alignment, transitions, and inversion poses to really allow for yoga exploration. Let the flow of mindful movement and stillness nourish your mind, body, and soul. Props and modifications can be offered.

Gentle- Only by learning to be gentle can you truly feel empowered and strong! Create stability, strength, and support for your back and your whole body by syncing breath and precise movement in our gentle; flow based class. Discover new energy, build strength, and gain flexibility while staying kind and gentle to yourself.

Hatha- Hatha yoga offers an invigorating, inclusive, and accessible class designed to encourage students to strengthen their bodies and create space for peace in their minds. Every class includes breath and meditative awareness throughout. Hatha yoga focuses on purifying the body, calming the mind and opening the heart.
Our Hatha is an all levels class, appropriate for beginners and those new to yoga or seasoned yogis sinking back in to fundamentals. Just do what your body allows!

Hip Hop Vinyasa- Life’s too short to live the same day twice and for that reason, this class will always have fresh beats and fast flow. A vinyasa-style class at the core, Hip Hop Vinyasa offers traditional yoga poses in a way that is a fun, powerful, and amped-up to get your practice pumping and mind connected to what matters. You DON’T need to have rhythm . You DON”T need any dance experience. You DON”T have to even be in shape. You DO need to be ready to have a killer good time, learn some awesome moves to killer tunes & sweat. Come shake your tail feathers!

Lunch Hour Yoga Nidra- Ever felt like you just wanted to relax during your busy day? This class focuses on a few poses, guided lying down meditation for deep relaxation, peaceful healing, stress management and personal transformation. During each class, students with be guided through breathing exercises, body scan meditations, and visualization techniques. This is a gateway practice to accessing deeper states of meditation and will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to get back to living out loud!

Power Lunch-45-Sometimes you want to run away to yoga mid-day. This class offers you the escape of a lunch hour power sequence that is a 45 minute series of postures that flow from one to the next, linked by breath. Modifications are offered for less intense and more advanced pose options. The dynamic mix of sweat and surrender will challenge you to your edge and encourage you to reach your true potential so you can return to your day revitalized and energized. You will likely break a sweat. We have restrooms for changing but no shower facilities.

NOON Flow or Flow- This 60 Minute class is a combination of hatha yoga, founded by Swami Sivananda, and Vinyasa Flow.  It is a fantastic first step if you are new to yoga or want to enhance your existing practice. This class will introduce you to the vast world of Sivananda and teach you all about good posture techniques, incorporating breathing exercises, stress relief, relaxation, and an introduction to meditation.  The fluid portion of the class of Vinyasa we will link poses together creating movement, strengthening asanas and enhancing balance.

THE VORTEX- Set your engine to overdrive. This 75 minute class is inspired by the power flow style of Ashtanga tradition, but we have discarded the set series of postures. Vigorous and creative standing sequences may move quickly or employ long holds. Expect balancing asanas, backbending, inversions, forward-bending, and twists. We’re looking to build strength, range-of-motion, and comfort in our own skins, inviting challenge and discomfort, and training our minds to respond with grace and acceptance. In Power Flow class we work hard, and then rest hard.

Restorative- Whoa whoa whoa, you need to slow down! This is a relaxed pace, mindful practice that targets your deep muscles, along with the energetic pathways of the body, bringing the body into balance and increasing our natural range of motion. Most of the poses are done while seated or lying down supported by the use of props and are held in stillness for several minutes. As we dive deeper into stillness, we bring body, breath and mind into harmony. Restorative yoga can be a complement to a more physical practice. You will leave class feeling a sense of balance, refreshed, & restored.

Rising Sun- Get ready ready to ride into the weekend with optimal alignment. This one hour Vinyasa class is designed around asanas which will awaken the body and mind while preparing you for the day ahead. This class will get you moving, shaking, and removing any blockages you may be experiencing. Class will begin with morning pranayama and end with a centering meditation and will provide just what you need to set the tone for your weekend. This is an all levels class. Just bring your smile and willingness to move.

Slow Energy Flow-Are you stressed, tense, tight? Tracking the energy in our bodies through the flow of the breath, this class focuses on building a slow sequence of cooling and gentle heating movement. Creating the space to settle deeply into each pose, we will strengthen our bodies while cultivating a rich appreciation of our own uniqueness.

Sunday Shuffle- Upbeat Hatha- This 60- minute upbeat Hatha –style class, offers our unique approach to music-based yoga. Each week, we will feature a new artist or theme, along with fresh poses. We want you to “Shake It Off, C’mon Feel the Noise, Get All Shook Up, and Demand R-E-S-P-E-C-T ” while we guide breath to movement and movement to melody. Each Sunday Morning at 10:30am, we will practice to a carefully curated playlist, focusing on increasing strength, mindfulness, and peace.  Our Hatha is an all levels class, appropriate for beginners and those new to yoga or seasoned yogis sinking back in to fundamentals. Sunset Yoga-
For beginners to advanced. Wind down your day with a combination of Raja Yoga & Hatha Yoga. This class focuses on breath, inner focus, alignment, press points and energetic extensions. Clearing away all that you unknowingly accumulated in your day. Release it all and go into your evening, like the sun setting in the ocean.

Vinyasa- Looking to workout and zen out? Vinyasa teaches postures that are linked together in a challenging, connected, and creative flow that combines strength & flexibility, as we tone the body and clear our minds. You are encouraged to move at their own pace with intention and to listen to your body as you discover your edge and tap into inner strength. These classes are warm and set to upbeat, thoughtfully curated music. Hip Hop Vinyasa synchs your practice to beats designed to keep your body and mind active.

Vin/Yin- This fusion of two of our classes blends Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga. Warm up the body with a Vinyasa Flow followed by nice long holds in deep relaxing stretches with the support of our props. Yin yoga helps to create long-term change in the body as it gently stretches all your tendons, ligaments, joints, bones and fascia. Vin will energize you and refresh you, while Yin provides peaceful release for your body and your mind. Check MINDBODY for specific class lengths as Vin/Yin may vary.

Yin- Does your daily life make you a tight stress ball? Are you looking to stretch and unwind? Yin postures are held in stillness and mindful awareness for several minutes at a time. A perfect complement to more fast-paced forms of exercise (such as flow yoga, running, or biking), Yin Yoga addresses tightness and toxin buildup in the joints and muscle tissue through poses that are equally challenging for the mind and body. The result is not only more loose and flexible joints, but also a greater sense of alignment, balance, and PEACE. Props make the practice accessible to people of all abilities. Our Yin is an all levels class, suitable for beginners and seasoned yogis, alike.

Yin/Yang- This class navigates a blended sequence of fast paced, heating yang postures intertwined with deep seated, cooling yin postures. Controlling the flow of energy through our breath, we will create a unique combination of movement that enhances both our physical and mental selves. (Applies to our Golden Seed and Sun Salutations classes, too) You will be forward folding. Modifications to poses available. However, deviation from the sequences are best held in private yoga sessions, if you need.
